We will be holdling a 5-hour meditation on Saturday, August 28 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The focus of the meditation will be Bhagavan Krishna. Please try to arrive on time. Late comers will be directed to the 2nd floor chapel until the next period of chanting when they can go to the main chapel. Those arriving after 4:00 PM must meditate in the 2nd floor chapel for the remainder of the meditation. Please review Group Meditation Guidelines available in the lobby and on the book rack in the basement.
On Thursday, September 2nd from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM there will be a Janmashtami Service honoring the anniversary of the birth or Lord Krishna. Please bring a flower as a symbol of devotion to God and Guru. A donation may be offered as a symbol of loyalty to Self-Realization fellowship. Special services are open to SRF students and members and anyone drawn to the Self-Realization Fellowship line of Gurus.
Because of the Special Service on Thursday, September 2nd the regular Thursday Service will be cancelled and the Bookroom and Gift Sale will be closed.
The next Senior Devotees Activity will be conducted on Sunday, August 29th.
The Annual Picnic will be held on Saturday September 18 from 11:00AM to 6:00PM at the Prospect Park in Brooklyn. The Park can be reached by subway and car. Directions to follow. Join us for a day of outdoor games, hiking, walking, relaxing and fun.
Our annual summer gift sale is now open through September 5th on the 2nd floor on Thursdays and Sundays after the service. The sale features new clothing and shawls from India, new jewelry, meditation seat covers, and devotional items. All proceeds from the gift sale support the Center's building fund.
The service readers want you to know that we are in need of volunteers. If you enjoy the services here and are willing to serve in a new way, we would be happy to train you. Please sign up on the sheet in the lobby or see Vivek or Eugenio for details. Everyone who is interested is invited to a newcomers meeting on Sunday, September 12th at 12:30 pm to explain the basics of service reading. The meeting will take place in the main chapel.
Attention all Latin devotees! The social committee needs your help for the South of the Border social on Sunday, Sept. 19th. If you are interested please contact Social Nancy or use the sign-up sheet in the lobby.
